The New Target Spring Outfits That Every Busy Mom Needs

Let’s be real for a second, if an outfit requires me to change my bra or steam it before I head out the door, it’s probably staying in the closet. Between school drop-offs, the gym, and that never-ending Target run, I need clothes that work as hard as I do.

I found two sets from Target’s new spring line that are actually cute enough to wear to lunch but functional enough to survive a toddler tantrum.

Blogilates Ballerina Skort (Cream Floral) + Pink Seamless Bra Tank

I’m currently living in this Blogilates Ballerina Skort. It’s cream with this dainty floral print that is just chef’s kiss for spring.

The best part? It has built-in shorts underneath. As a mom, “skirt season” usually involves a lot of worrying about how I’m bending over to pick up toys, but these shorts stay put. I paired it with the Pink Seamless Bra Tank because the colors look so intentional together. The fabric is that buttery-soft material that doesn’t dig in, which is exactly what I need for a Pilates class or just chasing kids at the park. Throw on a denim jacket and you’re ready for brunch.

JoyLab Cinch Back Active Dress (Brown)

If you see me at the grocery store this week, I’m probably wearing this. This JoyLab Active Dress is the definition of “throw on and go.” I grabbed it in the Brown, it’s a gorgeous neutral that feels a bit more elevated than your standard black leggings.

The cinch-back detail actually gives you a shape (so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a sack), but it’s still stretchy enough to move in. It’s moisture-wicking, which is a lifesaver for those humid spring afternoons. I usually wear it to the gym with sneakers, then just swap for some cute sandals and gold hoops when I’m heading out to eat.

Honestly, the best part about these pieces is how much they simplify my morning, they just work together without me having to think twice about “styling” them. You’re getting that high-end, boutique aesthetic for a fraction of what you’d pay at a specialty store, and most importantly, they actually survive the “mom test” in the laundry room. If an outfit can’t handle a heavy-duty wash after a messy day at the park or a coffee spill, it doesn’t stay in my closet, but these have held up perfectly. I’m dying to know which one you’re leaning toward for your own spring wardrobe, are you Team Floral Skort or Team Active Dress? Let me know in the comments!

Mermaid Themed Birthday Party: Let’s Shellebrate!

mermaid themed party

Are you thinking about having a mermaid themed party for your little one? Here you can find some inspiration and cute “under the sea” ideas. I can’t believe my first born is now 3 years old! We had so much fun celebrating our girl last weekend. I say this every year, but time really does go by quicker with each passing year. She has been loving princesses this year , especially Ariel, so we ultimately decided to do a mermaid themed birthday party. Below are the links to pick up any of the goodies I used for her party.

Mermaid Party Decor

I feel like the most time consuming part is making sure all your decor matches and coordinates. I like to start collecting décor and pieces months before when I spot them at stores or online. Everyone always thinks I am nuts for doing this, but it makes me feel so much more prepared rather than scrambling around a few weeks before the party. This year we went with a soft pink, teal/ turquoise, and purple color scheme. A lot of the décor was purchased from Shein. If you haven’t purchased or searched on their website, I highly recommend it! They have everything from clothing, house décor, party décor, and a lot of the essential party supplies.

This was my first time taking a stab at making a balloon garland. It took a little longer then I would have liked, but it was also my first time making one. Once I figured out how to blow up the balloons and make doublets and clusters it became easier. I highly recommend getting a balloon air pump. It saves so much time blowing up two balloons at the same time!

Under the Sea Menu

  • Sea Shell Pasta Salad
  • Pit Beef
  • Seaweed dip (spinach and artichoke dip with bread)
  • Paradise Fruit Salad
  • Gold Fish
  • Sea Salt Chips
  • Pirate Booty
  • Mermaid Bait (mini brownies)
  • Ocean Water: blue Hawaiian punch, sprite, and pineapple juice (you can easily make this alcoholic with rum or vodka!)

Due to the number of people at our party, we decided to get a sheet cake. This made my life a lot easier! Every year for our daughters birthday, I make cupcakes. It has been hard for me to find the right consistency for the icing. After doing some researching, I found and used Satin Ice Buttercream Frosting. You just have to add/ mix in butter and water. This seemed to have the best consistency and allowed me to pipe the frosting on a lot easier than creating and mixing my own. Once finished piping, I of course had to use Sprinkle pop to decorate! I used the treasure hunt sprinkle mix this time. It had a great variety of colors that really popped on the cupcakes.

Party Printables

If you are looking for adorable and editable party printables, you need to check out Designmypartystudio on Etsy. There are so many themes to choose from. I purchased these two editable signs! One for welcoming our guests, food labels, and the other for sweet treats. Once you purchase the product, you are easily able to edit it in a software program.
