Father’s Day Gifts that Dad’s Will Love

gift ideas for dad

Father’s Day is less than 1 week away. Are you still thinking about what to make or get Dad?

I’ve come up with some great ideas you can use to help put your Father’s Day gift together. Some are DIY and others are just want dads are looking for to kick back and relax. All dads have different interests, but hopefully you can find one idea that you can use!

Idea #1 a personalized mug that your toddler or child can contribute to

Everyone loves a good cup of coffee in the morning. What better gift than to have your little one decorate a mug for dad to use. It will get used on a regular basis and is super easy to make! Grab a plain coffee cup. I grabbed a 17oz mug from target for $2.00. You could easily purchase this item from the dollar store as well. Next you will need some of sharpie’s oil-based paint markers. I bought a pack of 5 and decided to use orange, blue, and green. The last item you will really need for this project is stickers. I found some lying around in my scrapbook collection. It does not really matter what color they are because you will be tearing them off after you are done having them draw on the mug.

Step 1: tape of the handle and the top of the mug so that paint won’t get in dad’s mouth

Step 2: put stickers on the mug, I chose to write the word dad on ours

Step 3: have your child decorate the mug with the oil-based paint markers. Make sure you cover up the middle and around the letters so that when you peel off the letters you can read what the word says. I would wait to peel of the stickers at least an hour or two to let the markers dry.

Step 4: let sit for a few hours, I let ours sit overnight

Step 5: bake at 250 for about 2 hours, put the coffee cup into the oven before you turn the temperature on, this way it warms up with the oven

Idea #2 a personalized shirt for dad and baby

fathers day shirt

Dad and daughter matching shirts! I highly recommend using Bella + Canvas shirts, they are so soft, comfortable, and have practically every color imaginable! I created these shirts using my cricut maker.

Step 1: Decide on your favorite font

Step 2: the color HTV you will be using

Step 3: cut your image and weed

Step 4: heat up your heat press ( I used siser easyweed HTV so I set my temperature to 305 degrees and pressed for 15-20 seconds)

Idea #3 beer

Men love to drink beer. Whether it’s watching a sports game, relaxing outside, grilling, or hanging with his friends. Create a mixed beer box of his favorite beers or different ones for him to enjoy and try. You could also get a YETI rambler to keep the beer cold!

Idea #4 Slippers

Find a comfy pair of slippers that he can be comfortable in around the house.

Idea #5 Personalized Father’s Day book

I love the concept of Wonderbly’s personalized book collection. You can pick and choose from a ton of different stories where you can personalize the story and add your child’s name as the character. You can even create a dedication page that he will enjoy reading every time he opens the book. My daughter absolutely loves this story and it is a great way for her and my husband to bond at night.

TIPS THAT WILL HELP PACKING FOR A TODDLER

packing for a toddler

Have you ever packed your bags and halfway down the road realized that you left something behind at home, raise your hand. I know I am guilty! I then must re-buy the item elsewhere usually at a higher price point. It is so easy to forget those essential items because we already have enough going on in our mind, add in packing for a baby, and phew! Packing for a toddler whether you are going on a road trip or flying across the country, is no easy task.

I remember packing for our first trip with our toddler, I thought oh my goodness, how many bags does one small human need? Of course, when we got to the destination and started unpacking or needed an item we realized we had forgotten it.  Here are some of the most essential items we make sure to bring on our trips. You can also download my Toddler Essential Vacation Checklist so you never forget what to pack your toddler.

Packing for a Toddler: The Essentials

  1. Clothes- make sure to bring at least 2 to 3 extra outfits, we know how messy babies can be or if they have an explosive poop. Be prepared by packing a few extra for that “just in case situation.”
  2. Diapers and wipes- I have  packed diapers, thought it would be enough, but ran out. Make sure you are packing enough for the whole trip. Easiest solution to this would be to buy a buy an entire box. Don’t forget the overnight diapers as well!
  3. Diaper cream- that nasty poop and rash can pop up at any time, make sure you have diaper rash cream handy to help ease the irritation. Our favorite is Aquaphor Diaper Rash Paste.
  4. Medicine- bring Tylenol or Motrin incase of a fever (you never know if they will be teething or catch something) I like to always pack baby Benadryl as well incase of an allergic reaction or itching.

Load up for the Car or Plane

  1. Toys- bring toys for the car and to entertain them for the whole vacation, some of my go to toys are water beads, Melissa and Doug wow water books, a playdough tray, a shape sorter, and stacking cups.
  2. Snacks for the car and the trip- our favorite is pirate booty, cheerios, plum snack bars, and goldfish. Head over to my shop to see the snack cups we use. They are perfect for the car or plane.
  3. Tablet or computer with hotspot to allow your child to watch their favorite movie or TV. This is best for long car rides or trips.

Eating out on Vacation

  1. Sippy cups, silicone placemat and bib- take these to restaurants.

Bedtime Essentials on your Trip

  1. Lovey or favorite stuffed animal to help calm your toddler with any nerves while being away from home.
  2. Toothbrush and toothpaste
  3. Wash cloths and body wash
  4. Books for bedtime- we bring our daughters favorite books, again try and stay as consistent as you can with your bed time routine that includes reading books before going to bed

Just In Case

  1. Pack n’ play- luckily my parents have an extra pack n play at their house so we haven’t had to haul this, but it is definitely something I would recommend bringing to help keep the night time routine as consistent as possible.
  2. Portable high chair- we use the booster seat that came with our highchair
  3. This may not be feasible, but if you have an additional camera/baby monitor
  4. White noise machine- most babies sleep with white noise, if you do not have a portable machine, use an old cell phone! I use our Spotify account and loop music through that.
